Top 10 Resources You Should Check Out to Learn More about Health Informatics

The field of Health Informatics is rapidly expanding, with the pandemic and the rapid adoption of telemedicine, there has been a spotlight on this field. This field has opportunities for people with an IT background who want to get involved in the clinical space, clinicians who have an interest in combining healthcare and technology to improve patient outcomes and those from completely different backgrounds!

Here are some consolidated resources for people who want to learn more about the field of Health Informatics and those who are in the field and want to continue learning 😀

1. Stat News– is a news site that breaks down the latest stories combining technology and healthcare. They also have in-depth white papers on interesting topics such as healthcare algorithms and racial inequities in healthcare.
   
   
2. HIMSS– The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society are global leaders when it comes to reporting standards, news, webinars and more, with respect to technology and healthcare. They also host early career webinars, where a panel of young professionals provide advice for those looking to break into the field.
   
   
3. Health Catalyst – Health Catalyst is a leading provider of data and analytics technology and services to healthcare organizations. They also have a great blog site where they write all about healthcare analytics and data standards, for instance, when designing healthcare dashboards.
   
   
4. Health Analytic Insights Podcast– The Health Analytic Insights Podcast is run by yours truly and is all about creating a community of students, professionals and those who are interested in the field of health informatics. This podcast reports on topics relating to health analytics, digital health, biomedical engineering and data visualization in healthcare!
   
   
5. The Health Tech Podcast– The Health Tech Podcast is run by Dr. James Somauroo and covers the latest in health and technology through interviews with disruptive health-tech startups and leaders.

The Medical Futurist – The Medical Futurist is run by Dr. Meskó and is an informative Youtube channel for those who are interested in how machine learning and medicine are colliding and will be impacted in the future.
